The Shrine of Our Lady de la Leche – Saint Augustine, FL

Saint Augustine, FL - 2019

Product Description

FORTA-FERRO was used to reinforce the concrete pedestrian bridge, sidewalks, and paving for The Shrine of Our Lady La Leche, a historical place established in 1565, in St. Augustine, FL. This project totaled 1,000 yds and used a fiber dosage of 4.0 lb/cu yd. A decorative “Tabby Finish” with seashells and pea rock was used, and a special finishing process was needed to achieve the decorative finish for these 5.5” thick applications. By using FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers, no labor was needed to place steel reinforcement. Since this project was located next to the ocean, they did not need to worry about steel reinforcements corroding due to the salty environment. The hassles of driving and tailgating the concrete over the steel reinforcements with the concrete trucks were also eliminated with the use of FORTA-FERRO fibers. This saved time since fibers are mixed throughout the concrete.
