Old Dominion – Commerce City, CO

Commerce City, CO - 2018

Project Description

FORTA-FERRO fibers were chosen to be used in the expansion and remodel of the Old Dominion Freight Line terminal and office building in Commerce City, CO. In this new shop facility, the owner chose to remove and replace existing asphalt pavement with fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) in terminal area. For this 29,000 cu yd project, a fiber dosage of 5.0 lb/ cu yd of FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers were used. By eliminating rebar mat, direct placement of concrete was allowed from the mixer truck and no extra labor was used to raise the rebar mat to the support positions after each laser screed movement. TWC superintendent said, “FORTA-FERRO fibers eliminated hundreds of hours of labor by adding reinforcements at the same time of concrete placement and provided a better slab structure.”
