Project Description
A new addition was added on to the Franklin Elementary School in the North Allegheny School District. The architect specified FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers be used in the ground slab at a dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd. Using FORTA-FERRO allowed the contractor to reduce costs by forgoing the high price of steel, extra labor costs, and there was no need for a pump truck. By choosing FORTA-FERRO the owners will increase durability and reduce cracks in the long run. This was the first time the architectural firm that designed this project allowed the contractor to use fibers in one of their projects.
