Evans General Contractors used FORTA-FERRO to replace the conventional steel reinforcement for the slab-on-deck (SOD) and slab-on-ground (SOG) applications in their new Savannah, GA office building. Contractors used a dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd in the SOG and 4.0 lb/cu yd in the SOD of FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fiber. Since wire mesh was replaced, workers had a safer work environment with no tripping hazards. No crane was needed to lift steel reinforcements to the second story SOD – reducing costs and decreasing construction time. Small office buildings can benefit greatly from making macro synthetic fibers the industry standard for concrete reinforcement.
