Project Description

Since 2002, Dan Large from FRC has requested that fibers be listed in the NRCS specifications for this application. After a meeting in June 2012 with NRCS, DNR, and USDA officials, a verbal agreement was reached to install “pilot” projects to compare the performance of 7.5 lbs. / cu. yd. of fiber to the longtime rebar specifications. Three-dimensional reinforcement throughout the slab, as well as acid resistance, are two of the many benefits of FORTA-FERRO®. Using FORTA-FERRO® allows you to leave the entire manure storage facility open, with no obstructions, right up to the time of the concrete placement.

Update

After several follow-up visits, the project has been seen to be holding up successfully. The last follow-up was in August 2013, and indicated that FORTA-FERRO® is still serving the application very well.
