Advanced Disposal – Sheboygan, WI

Sheboygan, WI - July 2019

Project Description

Advanced Disposal contacted a FORTA distributor when looking to replace and match the slab design they placed in 2002. They chose to replace 120 lb of steel fiber with 15 lb/cu yd of FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers. The reduction in fiber dosage was more economical than the steel fiber used in the past. The tipping slab is a high use slab that sees many loads of garbage dumped daily and then scraped and reloaded with a loader. The slab gets a great deal of abrasion. Therefore, a design with minimal joints and abrasion-resistant concrete is desirable. Using FORTA-FERRO fibers allowed the slabs to be placed with minimal joints and the concrete was conveyed over the excavation.
