Project Description:
Engineers for the 100-year old Cashdollar Building in downtown Grove City, PA, determined that the ground-level floor used for business office space had begun to sag and settle enough to affect door jamb openings and overall structural integrity. Corrective options included total building demolition, or corrective floor support from the unusable basement space below. The most cost-effective solution was to provide selective floor supports surrounded by some form of stable fill, which was accommodated easily with 1,000 cubic yards of FORTA® GoldenAir® flowable-fill material. The resulting CLSM (Controlled Low-Strength Material) offered excellent floor stability while remaining diggable if it became necessary in the future. The high-slump FORTA® GoldenAir® mix was pumped very easily and cleanly in a 4" line through the existing office space, creating minimal, short-term disturbance.
