Spill Containment Slabs
3-M Tank Farm, Cordova, IL - August 1988Project Description:
FORTA® ULTRA-NET® was specified by 3M Senior Project Engineer Patrick McGrann as the secondary/temperature reinforcement at this 20-unit chemical tank storage facility in Cordova, IL. The 2-1/4" long FORTA® ULTRA-NET® fiber was used at a dosage of 1.6 lbs./cubic yard in over 1,600 cubic yards of concrete. Fiber-reinforced application areas included the 4" thick slabs-on-grade surrounding the tanks for accidental-spill temporary containment, as well as the 4-foot high perimeter retaining wall, and the retaining wall foundation. The slabs received a light broom/textured finish, with minimal surface-fiber evidence.
