Motel 6, Santa Barbara, CA - March 1983Project Description:
In early 1983, Motel 6, Inc. began specifying and utilizing FORTA® reinforcement in the lightweight fill concrete on second floor decking for all new construction in the United States. FORTA® ULTRA-NET® fiber was used at a dosage rate of 1.6 pounds per cubic yard of concrete, and a length of 3/4" to accommodate the sand/cement mix. The lightweight concrete consisted of a cellular detergent foaming agent, to facilitate a self-leveling, high-slump pump mix. The 3-dimensional FORTA® reinforcement has successfully reduced shrinkage cracking in scores of Motel 6 projects nationwide.
