Project List:

Bridge Deck

54th Street Bridge, Philadelphia, PA - May 1996

Project Description:

In an attempt to add long-term durability values to a typically troublesome bridge deck application, the City of Philadelphia specified a heavy-duty fibrillated network fiber reinforcement. Over 180 cubic yards of concrete were reinforced with FORTA® ULTRA-NET® fiber at a dosage rate of 1.6 lbs. per cubic yard (1.0 kg/cubic meter). The 2-1/2" long FORTA® ULTRA-NET® fiber mixed easily and uniformly, was pumped into place, and was used in conjunction with the primary/structural steel in this May 1996 project. Surface treatment was a tined/textured surface.
