FORTA-FERRO® macrosynthetic fiber was selected for use on the much-heralded floor-study project in Chicago, IL, that is being sponsored and directed by CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION magazine. The two primary project objectives are to study ways to reduce curling in warehouse floors and measure the rate of moisture loss after placement. FORTA® delivered over 3,200 lbs. of the 2-1/4" long FORTA-FERRO® macro fiber that was used at dosages of 3 lbs. and 7.5 lbs./cu. yd. in various portions of the 60,000 square foot floor slab. One of the most watched aspects will be an 11,000 square foot area where normal joint-spacing was extended three times the norm by using 0.5% by volume (7.5 lbs./cu. yd.) of the FORTA-FERRO® reinforcement.
