Questions:

As the first synthetic fiber reinforcement producer in the United States, FORTA Corporation has strived to obtain acceptance and compliance evaluations from all of the national building codes, such as the Uniform Building Code (I.C.B.O. - International Conference of Building Codes), the Standard Building Code (S.B.C.C.I. - Southern Building Code Congress International), the Basic Building Code (B.O.C.A. - Building Officials Code Administrators), and the One and Two Family Dwelling Code (C.A.B.O. - Council of American Building Officials.) These three codes have now been combined into the I.C.C. International Code Council) code, in which FORTA® products are listed. Contact FORTA® for copies of specific code evaluation reports.
Typically, federal agencies do not possess approval formats or systems for building products, however many agencies have used and approved FORTA® for use on a per-project basis, such as the Farmers Home Administration, the General Services Administration, and various branches of the U.S. military including the Army Corp of Engineers. Contact FORTA® for specific government agency information.
Many state, county and municipal government agencies subscribe to and use one of the national building codes as a foundation for their local building standards. In some cases, the local bodies also have additional code requirements that FORTA® has applied for and met, such as Dade County-Florida, the Alabama Department of Public Health, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Contact FORTA® for specific local agency approvals.
Several construction-related associations have published various recommendations, suggested practices, and material specifications for FRC (Fiber Reinforced Concrete). For instance, the American Concrete Institute's Committee 544 "Fiber Reinforced Concrete and Shotcrete" has established recommendations for handling, using, and testing FRC. FORTA® products are listed by Underwriters Laboratory (#RI8552N), and comply with Section 4.1.3 of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Committee C-1116 "Standard Specification of Fiber Reinforced Concrete and Shotcrete." Additional design and practice information can also be found in the A.C.I. (American Concrete Institute) Committee 360 Slabs On Ground documents, regarding the use of HVSF (High Volume Synthetic Fiber) reinforced concrete.
FORTA® is willing and able to apply for any product evaluation or approval that falls outside the existing national code system. Contact the FORTA® Specification Department for assistance (1-800-245-0306).
